This weekend is all European - listen to movies and music and enjoy the new format for our weekend events allowing you to navigate by day rather than topic.

Friday - Latvian singer-songwriter performing

Latvian singer-songwriter Alise Joste will perform pieces from her two albums at K.K. fon Stricka Villa at 8 p.m. in central Rīga. Her music has been described as intimate, tender and coming straight from the heart.

Saturday - Hungarian chamber music virtuosos

The Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will perform at the Rīga Congress Centre at 7 p.m. They have been called the most famous ensemble from Hungary and have performed for close to thirty years. 

The orchestra will be performing romantic pieces from Liszt, Bela Bartok, Giuseppe Giordani, Wolf Péter, and Tchaikovsky.

Sunday - European Art Film Day

The three movie theaters of Elizabetes st. will showcase artsy European cinema.

Kino Bize will showcase four European movies.

The Ksuns movie gallery will screen another three, and the resplendent Splendid Palace will showcase Latvia's Academy Award hopeful Ausma (Dawn).

All of the movies are screened in the original language with subtitles in glorious English.
