Some 37,890 young singers and dancers participated in the festival, which serves as downsized version of the Song and Dance festival (the latter is also held every five years).
The next time whole Latvia will join in song will be in 2018 when the 26th adult Song and Dance Festival will be held, while the 12th youth Song and Dance festival will take place in 2020.
The new President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis tweeted in recognition of the hard work the organizers and the participants put into making this festival happen: "Thank you participants, conductors and everyone else that helped the festival succeed. I'm proud of you!" said the president.
