Žanis Lipke Memorial to hold week-long symposium in November

The Žanis Lipke Memorial – a museum in Rīga dedicated to the memory of Žanis Lipke, a well-known savior of Jews during World War II – is organizing a week-long symposium to mark Lipke's 120th birthday, organizers said October 14.

The symposium will take place from November 2 to 8.

During the week, Lipke Memorial will present the book “Lipke's List” (November 2), open Diana Dimza-Dimma's exhibition “Mājvieta” (Home) (November 3), as well as the showcase the virtual reality experience “Lipke Bunker” – the first project of this kind in Latvian museums (November 4).

The symposium program will include an international conference “Civil courage for a Democratic Future” (November 5) in cooperation with the University of Latvia's Institute of Philosophy and Sociology. On November 6, there will be a youth cinema viewing and discussion on the topic of courage.

The weekend will be dedicated to children and parents, with workshops, virtual reality experience, as well as children's play "Puika ar suni" (The Boy with the Dog).
