The money raised will go to the “For new parents” program, where new parents receive emotional and informative support from FEA mothers or First Emotional Aid mothers.
During the charity campaign from 20 November last year until 6 January this year, everyone had the opportunity to drink coffee in special SOS Children’s Villages cups, with 3 cents from each drink going towards the Association’s efforts.
Ilze Paleja, Director of the Latvian SOS Children’s Villages Association said the organisation helps children who have been left without parental care by caring for them in SOS families and providing support to foster families, adoptive families and guardians, but it also provides preventive services to families with children who have faced different types of challenges.
“The ‘For new parents’ programme, which provides emotional and informative support to parents of newborn babies, is very supportive and appreciated by many new parents. Support for parents of babies is very much needed and the programme is currently in high demand,” said Ilze Paleja.
Jānis Vība, Chairman of the Board of Virši, said other fundraising efforts for SOS Children's Villages wee also being planned, and donation boxes at Virši service stations would continue to raise funds.
