Rītiņš lost a fight against an illness which he battled for several weeks.

Mārtiņš Rītiņš established the restaurant Vincents based on the slow food concept in Old Rīga, and was host of cooking TV shows, becoming a much-loved figure on the small screen and Latvia's most famous chef into the bargain.

His work had seen him awarded the highest State decoration, the Order of the Three Stars.

Condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
