Find your nearest self-harvest farm online

The Internet catalog novadagarsa.lv, which lists local farmers, has introduced a new section - "pašlasīšana" (self-harvest), Latvian Radio said July 31.

This means that growers of berries, vegetables and fruit invite guests to visit them during harvest, and hand-pick the produce for self-consumption. The new section has been introduced as a response to workforce lack with harvesting.

“We created a “Pašlasīšana” section in the catalog. We've tried the section for only a few days, and we see that there are more than ten farms who have indicated the option of self-harvest,” said Ilze Rutenberga-Berzina, spokeswoman for the Rural Advisory and Training Center.

She also invited the hosts, both those who are already on the novadagarsa.lv catalog and those who are not, to contact the nearby bureau of Rural Advisory and Training Center and sign up, so everyone knows where berries, fruits or vegetables await.
