Latvian food authority warns of salmonella in poultry

The Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) has found salmonella in several batches of poultry produced in Poland and sold at Maxima. 

The retailer must remove the following production from store shelves:

  • Chicken legs "Best Butcher" (PL 20630501 WE) with expiry date 15/03/2022, batch number 6450439369, distributor Maxima International Sourcing, UAB;
  • Chicken thighs "Best Butcher" (PL 20630501 WE), expiry date 15/03/2022, batch number 6450439377, distributor Maxima International Sourcing, UAB;
  • Chicken fillets  "Best Butcher" (PL 20630501 WE), expiry date 15/03/2022, batch number 6450439381, distributor  Maxima International Sourcing, UAB;
  • Ground turkey "Best Butcher" (PL 10024001 WE), expiry date 16/03/2022, batch number 2261006922, distributor Maxima International Sourcing, UAB.

PVD reminded the public that meat should be properly cooked before consumption, as well as stored and prepared separately from other products to avoid cross-contamination.
