Latvian architects plan creative centenary celebrations

This year, in 2024, the Latvian Association of Architects (LAB) is celebrating its centenary. To mark the special occasion, members of the Association have prepared a special offer for schools, universities, media, non-governmental organizations, state institutions, companies and other interested parties, by dedicating
100 minutes of their time to a social activity free of charge.

Architects are offering to give a lecture, or to give a consultation, to host a tour, to give an interview, or prepare educational materials and worksheets on architecture.

The chairman of the board of the Association of Latvian Architects, Linda Leitāne, explained:

"Learning about architecture, the work and way of thinking of architects is essential because it enables people to better understand and value their environment. Architecture is much more than just building design, it is a message about our culture, history and society. Architectural thinking helps people understand how spatial planning and design affect our daily life, well-being and even emotional state. By gaining an understanding of architecture, people can become more informed and engaged citizens in urban environments and in the communities in which they live."

The campaign is implemented by the Union of Latvian Architects with the support of the State Cultural Capital Fund. More information about which architects are participating in the promotion and what they are offering is available at a special website.

The LAB was founded in 1924 and is one of the oldest non-governmental organizations in Latvia, uniting industry professionals and promoting the development of architecture in Latvia.
