Latvia's castles and manors invite you to annual 'Legends Night'

Latvia's numerous castles, palaces and manor houses are the places to go this weekend as they throw their doors open for the annual 'Legends Night' event.

This will be the twelfth time Legends Night has taken place. The program of events can be found on the website of the Association of Castles and Manors, which organizes the annual showcase. The theme of this year's event is discoveries and will provide an opportunity to discover previously unseen places, unheard stories or unexperienced feelings.

A record number of castles and manors participate in the Night of Legends event this year on October 28. Most castles and manors will welcome their guests for free, but some activities will be available only by prior application or purchase of a ticket.

For example, the historical library's "Story Cabinets" will be opened in Pelči Palace; A new entrance will be opened in Dobele Castle; In Lielvircava manor there will be an opportunity to discover the music of the 19th century with pianist Reinis Zariņš; In the Krāslava Palace, you will be able to get revelations about the palace, the park and the old book collection of the Platers family, while in the Svitene Palace, art scholar Kristiāna Ābele will reveal the legend of the painting collection of Countess Cecilia von Anrep-Elmpt.

The full list of participating places and details of individual events is available at the official website: https://www.pilis.lv/lv/
