The Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) will support Mistrus Media, Latvian Television and Culture Capital Foundation co-production broadcast "Tas notika šeit" (It happened here), LIAA public relations department reported on June 15.

One of LIAA's priorities at the moment is to promote local tourism. The TV program is going to reveal less known sites of Latvia through interesting stories in order to encourage Latvia's population to look more closely at local tourism offers.

"The tourism sector has been significantly affected by the restrictions on assembly, and people are gradually returning to their usual travel habits," said Director of the LIAA Tourism Department Inese Šīrava.

"The program, which premiered its first season in 2018, is a great way to promote safe travel in Latvia," said Šīrava, adding that other marketing activities are currently being worked on so that local tourism does not fall short at the end of the summer season. Local tourism potential is far from exhausted, says Inese Šīrava.

In season 2 of the "Tas notika šeit" program, which will be aired on Latvian Television in October, historians Edgars Plētiens, Inna Gīle and Gatis Krūmiņš will visit five different places in Latvia to explore unique stories, people, and events that would reveal remarkable facts about the locations.
