Latvia marks 30 years of United Nations membership

September 17, 2021 is exactly 30 years since Latvia became a member of the United Nations.

To mark the occasion a discussion took place at Rīga Castle involving President Egils Levits, former President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, UN Under-Secretary-General for Human Rights Ilze Brands-Kehris, Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs and others.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also pepared a short video clip, which can be watched above, and illuminated its building overnight in the blue and white of the UN flag.
