On International Women's Day, March 8, a new website dedicated to the women in Latvian history is available.

The initiative 'Representation of women in Latvian culture and society (1870–1940)' was launched in 2021 by the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia. Materials of all sorts were accumulated and are now publicly available on womage.lv.

The website is available in Latvian and partially in English.

The site currently contains biographical descriptions of more than 400 women – social and cultural workers, politicians, writers, artists, actresses, teachers, doctors, and other professionals whose active activities are dating from 1870 to 1940. The site will be updated regularly. Everyone is invited to participate in the development of the database, specifying the data and submitting photographs and stories of Latvian cultural workers who they find important.
