June 22 saw history buffs performing a re-enactment to mark 100 years since the Battles of Cēsis, important military clashes that helped secure the status of newly-independent Latvia. You can watch a video of the re-enactment above and see a gallery of images below.
The stylized and dramatized re-enactment involved more than 200 enthusiasts from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland plus cadets from the Latvian National Defense Academy performing maneuvers to a commentary with musical interludes in front of a large audience.
The re-enactment was part of a day long series of events in Cēsis.
