It is the 31st time the Association of Latvian Book Publishers (LGA) has organized the Golden Apple book design competition. At the beginning of the year, the jury began work on evaluating the books submitted by the publishers.
This year, books were nominated in 7 categories. In addition, a lifetime award will be given to the artist and long-time book designer Aldis Aleks.
Interested parties will have a chance to see all the contenders on display at the 'Skola 2024' event in Ķipsala this weekend. Throughout the month of March, the nominated books will also be on display at the Riga Central Library.
In all 33 publishers put forward 94 books for the Golden Apples. Winners will be announced at an award ceremony that will take place April 4. The awards are supported by the Culture Ministry, the Jelgavas tipogrāfija printing house, Arctic Paper Baltic States, and the Latvian National Library.
