The Latvian Literature platform which promotes works by Latvian authors overseas is among the winners of the annual Ministry of Culture Awards for Excellence, the ministry has announced.

Latvian Literature, Gundega Laiviņa, long-term director of the Latvian New Theater Institute, and Marina Rebeka, opera singer are the three recipients of this year's honors.

The Ministry explained that the platform "Latvian Literature" (established under the auspices of SIA "Starptautiskās Rakstnieku un tulkotāju māja") has made a significant contribution to the recognition of Latvian literature abroad, via participation at book fairs and providing resources to help with translations of Latvian literary works in other countries.

Gundega Laiviņa, long-term director of the Latvian New Theater Institute (LJTI), and director of the international new theater festival “Homo Novus”, has won the award for her work on numerous European level projects and various national and European cultural events.
