Stamp to honor distinguished Latvian writer Zenta Mauriņa

Honoring the distinguished Latvian essayist, philosopher, writer, and translator Zenta Mauriņa on her 125th birthday, a postage stamp and envelope will be issued on October 28, Latvian Postal Service (Latvijas Pasts, LP) reported on October 26.

The new postage stamp has been issued in 25,000 copies, while the envelope in 800 copies. The nominal stamp value is EUR 1.20, corresponding to the price of letter correspondence in the weight category up to 20 grams in the territory of Latvia.

The author of the design is artist Lilija Dinere.

Zenta Mauriņa (1897-1978) was a distinguished writer, translator, and the founder of the Latvian literary essay genre, as well as a lecturer in Latvia, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. 

The new postage stamp will initially be sold in the largest mail departments as well as in the LP e-store.
