Peltokoski reflects on life with the LNSO

Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski took charge of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) eighteen months ago and has proven to be a popular choice.

Now that he is halfway into his three-year contract, Latvian Radio's Māra Rozenberga caught up with the 23-year-old maestro to ask about his experience so far and his plans for the future.

The conversation also previewed a concert of Finnish orchestral music given by the LNSO under Peltokoski's baton on December 15. As well as the full interview (above) you can listen to Latvian Radio's recording of the full concert from the Great Guild concert hall in Rīga (below).

The program features a Violin concerto by Esa-Pekka Salonen (soloist Tami Pohjola) and Lemminkäinen by  Jean Sibelius.
