Latvian conductor Edgars Račevskis dies

Legendary Latvian choir-music conductor Edgars Račevskis has passed away at the age of 85, Latvian Television reported February 15.

Edgars Račevskis was the conductor for the State Song and Dance ensemble Sakta, the State academic choir Latvija, the Latvian National Opera choir, and Latvian Radio's Teodors Kalniņš choir. 

Račevskis was the founder and conductor of several choirs. He initiated and preserved cultural-historical events, including conducting at the Song and Dance Festival since 1970.
