Three Peaceful concerts for the Weekend in Latvia

Take note – story published 1 year ago

For some, December is the time of waiting; some just like to watch the snow fall; some prefer to hide away under a pile of blankets. Whichever category you may fall in, this weekend offers a few concerts which will fill the room with peace and expectation.

LNSO and Tarmo Peltokoski. Vasks and Vaughan-Williams' Sea Symphony

On Saturday, December 10, 19:00, at the Great Guild (Lielā ģilde, Herdera Square 6) a symphony concert with Pēteris Vasks' Musica Serena and Ralph Vaughan-Williams' A Sea Symphony will take place. According to the description, the composer Pēteris Vasks has named the Musica Serena a 'nostalgic autumn scenery, a meaningful, peaceful awareness'.

More information is available on LNSO's website.

Bell ensemble

For those into very Christmas-y sounds, the bell ensemble Primus is holding its 10th anniversary concert at the St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Rīga (Anglikāņu Street 2) on Saturday, December 10, 18:00. The program will include traditional Christmas music and classical music.

Sniedze Prauliņa and Uģis Prauliņš at Oleru Manor

On Saturday, December 10, 17:00, musicians Sniedze Prauliņa and Uģis Prauliņš will offer a 'meditative' concert program Brīvība un mēs (Freedom and Us) at the Oleri Manor in Valmiera municipality. The seating is limited, so visitors must apply at [email protected] by Friday.
