Aleksandrs Raščevskis and Amanda Krūmiņa were Latvia's top athletes over the full distance on Sunday and secured the laurels of Latvian champions.
Raščevskis achieved a new personal best: 2 hours, 25 minutes and 43 seconds. For the women, the winner of the 2021 event, Krūmiņa, secured another win by finishing after 2 hours and 50 minutes. Her closest competitor, last year's Latvian champion Anna Kļučnika, crossed the finish line three minutes and 56 seconds later.
In the half-marathon, Dmitrijs Serjogins won the men's event, while Ilona Marhele was the first to cross the finish line for the women.
A total of 23,751 participants from 79 countries confirmed their readiness to compete in the "Rimi" Riga Marathon in all distances, the organizers announced after collecting all the applications.
