Aparjods takes Latvian luge win in Germany

Latvian luge competitor Kristers Aparjods won the sixth stage of the World Cup on Sunday, which took place in Oberhof, Germany, according to the official results of the organizers.

Aparjods was 0.042 seconds ahead of second-placed Max Langenhan of Germany and 0.118 seconds ahead of third-placed Austrian David Gleirscher in the two-run total.

Fellow Latvian luge pilot Gints Bērziņš lost 0.476 seconds to Aparjoda and finished in 12th position.

Therefore, Aparjods with 472 points is now in third position in the World Cup standings, behind only Langenhan (655 points) and the Austrian Jonas Müller (479 points). Bērziņš is in 14th position with 159 points, while Kaspars Rinks has accumulated 27 points in two stages and is in 39th position.
