Latvian weightlifter Suharevs gets gold in European championship

On Tuesday, Latvia's weightlifter Ritvars Suharevs got the gold medal at the European championship in Armenia in the weight category of up to 73 kilograms, according to the organizers' information.

Suharevs scored 152 kilograms in snatch, 184 in clean and jerk, lifting a total of 336 kilograms. 

He was followed by Spanish David Sanchez-Lopez and Italian Mirko Zanni, who both scored 335 kilograms.

At the Tokyo Olympic Games, Suharev reached 6th place in the weight category to 81 kilograms.

The Latvian team at the European Championship also has Artūrs Vasiļonoks and Armands Mežinskis (both 89 kg), Artūrs Plēsnieks (102 kg) and Daniela Ivanova (76 kg). The European Championship will run until Sunday, April 23.
