The 16 will participate in an official training camp in Liepāja – but only 12 will eventually make the cut. In fact the 16 names have already been whittled down from an initial 24-man squad.

Big names such as Kristaps Porziņģis and Dāvis and Dairis Bertāns make the cut as expected alongside the likes of the talismanic Jānis Timma.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup starts August 25 and runs until September 10. The tournament is being co-hosted by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. It will be the first time ever that a Latvian team has appeared at the World Cup. Latvia's first game will be against Lebanon, while the other teams in the same group are Canada and France.
