Nearly 90 thousand attended Latvia's hockey games live

Information from the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) shows that a total of 89,302 viewers watched the Latvian hockey team's games, ten in total. An average of 8,930 viewers attended one game.

This is the second highest figure, trailing only Finnish games – eight home games were attended by a total of 94,797 viewers and an average attendance of 11,724 per game. It must be noted that the Nokia arena in Tampere has more capacity than Arena Rīga.

In terms of attendance, the third position is taken by the United States – a total of 83,719 viewers attended ten games with an average of 8,371 spectators per game.

Many fans from Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia had arrived in Riga. The Czech Republic's games were attended by 49,249 viewers, Slovakia's by 38,510 viewers, and Switzerland's by 41,582. 

The World Hockey Championship was held in Riga and Tampere. The Latvian hockey team won the bronze medal for the first time in history, while Canada was crowned the world champion.
