The run will cover 1836 kilometres along Latvia's border, teams running in opposite directions. On June 21, teams are scheduled to meet at Kolkas Rags.
“Two torches will be lit at 10.00 a.m. One will go north, the other on the south side, and the two torches will meet in Kolka after four days and nights," said organizer Enriko Podnieks. Torches will be carried along the whole distance, lighting 87 bonfires during the run, highlighting Latvia's border and creating a symbolic road of light and love that will “surround” Latvia.
46 teams will travel across the north, while 41 will go south. The goal of the run is to create a continuous "Light Road”. Each team, by closing its running stage, will light a symbolic bonfire.
Podnieks called on anyone to join for a moment and go with them in a small run. The location of runners can be followed live on websites www.1836.lv and www.stirnubuks.lv.
