Briedis plans to open boxing school at Porziņģis' sports center

Boxer Mairis Briedis plans on opening a boxing school at the Rīga sports center named after Latvia's NBA star Kristaps Porziņģis.

Appearing on LTV April 6, Briedis, who recently became Latvia's first ever world boxing champion, said he hopes the center would attract the new generation of Latvian athletes.

He also expressed pleasure over crowds of people who'd gathered to greet him at the Riga Airport upon hes return.

Last week Briedis won the prestigious WBC and the IBO Cruiserweight titles with an outstanding display in Germany against local favorite Marco Huck.
