Good news for anyone desperate for a bit of non-bed-based cardio training in the wee small hours of the morning: in October Latvia will get a state-of-the-art 24-hour gym.

Expanding its business operations from Estonia to Latvia, the self-service fitness club chain Gym! [sic]  – a subsidiary of the MyFitness group – will open its first gym in October. The gym will be located in the Origo shopping centre and will be available to clients 24 hours a day.

While it is claimed in a press release that this will be "Latvia’s first 24/7 fitness club", the claim is open to debate with LSM's own totally ripped staff aware of at least one other gym with a claim to 24-hour status: Capital gym in Ziepniekkalns.

Nevertheless, according to a press release: "Gym! will be a spacious and modern space outfitted with the latest top-line Technogym sports equipment in an area of nearly 1,500m2. The space will be divvied into individual areas, allowing for extensive space for cardio training, separate zones for strength training outfitted with the necessary equipment, as well as a functional training area. The wide array of available training equipment will give everyone the chance to meet their fitness goals."

It is claimed that total investment in the development of Gym! exceeds EUR 1 000 000, and a monthly subscription will cost EUR 15.

The first Gym! club was opened in 2018. Currently Gym! operates four fitness facilities in Estonia and says it has over 10 000 active members.

"Our ambition is to expand in the market of Latvia, by creating high quality clubs network with affordable pricing policy. I believe we will grow the number of sport-active people in Latvia,” said Erkki Torn, Chairman of the Board.
