Figure skater Vasiļjevs lands in top 20 at Olympic debut

Latvia's figure skater, 18-year-old Deniss Vasiļjevs on February 17 concluded his Olympic debut at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, ranking 19th in men's figure skating. 

Vasiļjevs finished with a total of 234.58 points, while Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu scored the gold medal with a total of 317.85 points. Shoma Uno, also from Japan, took the silver with 306.90 points, and Spain’s Javier Hernandez raked up 305.24 points.

Vasiļjevs came close to his personal best, trailing behind it just by some 8 points.
