Latvian-speaking Santa surprises Porzingis in NBA ad

Take note – story published 7 years ago

An ad by ESPN television has harnessed the Latvian skills of the country's NBA star Kristaps Porziņģis to attract viewers for the Knicks' game against Celtics on Christmas, with Santa Claus also managing to speak some Latvian.

The video has a hopeful Santa Claus say labdien (good day) to the Latvian Knick, who promptly replies with a torrent of Latvian words that seem to leave Santa perplexed.

No hurt feelings, though, because as Kristaps said it - Latvian really is a difficult language to learn (don't let that discourage you, though - it just takes some time).

The game on December 25 will take place around at noon, so Latvian viewers will be able to watch, too!

As the ESPN is broadcasting five games on Christmas, it has come up with a string of ads featuring Santa Claus.
