Ainars Bagatskis, the head coach of the Latvian men's team, said after a final team training session that center player Ilja Gromovs will not be among the 12 players being sent to the European Championship finals.
The last training was attended by all eligible players including Kristaps Porziniģis, whose medical examinations confirmed that a small injury had healed sufficiently. After the session Bagatskis thanked Gromov for participating in the warm-up process over recent weeks.
The most experienced player in the squad will be Janis Blums, playing in his seventh European Championship finals (a national record). Kristaps Janičenoks is not far behind, playing for the sixth time in the European Championship.
