Lidl opens 30th store in Latvia

German retail giant Lidl opened its 30th store on February 29, two and a half years after entering the Latvian market, with representatives of the German Embassy in Latvia and German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce in attendance. It is already the 30th Lidl store in Latvia and the 16th Lidl store in capital city Rīga.

“By opening the 30th store in Latvia, Lidl today celebrates a small anniversary – we have doubled the number of our stores since the opening in October 2021... Our strategy remains consistent – to keep growing and to be closer to our clients in different regions of Latvia and Rīga,” said Maciej Urbanski, CEO of Lidl Latvija.

“So far, we have already invested almost 300 million euros in Latvia, and our market share is close to 8%,” he said, adding that 60 products of Latvian origin are in the current product line-up.

By opening its latest store at Krasta street 40, Riga, Lidl Latvija has created around 30 new jobs.
