The thermal energy tariff has decreased due to a reduction in the costs of purchased heat and fuel. Both natural gas and renewable resources – chips, granules, and wood – are used in the production of thermal energy, as well as some of the thermal energy is being purchased, said SPRK.
Meanwhile, in most other municipalities, the heating tariff is expected to rise substantially. For example, in Valmiera municipality a 45% increase is expected, 19% in Cēsis, 6.7% in Jelgava, whereas in Rīga the tariffs are expected to double.
