The number of nights spent by visitors comprised 243.2 thousand, which is 90.8 % more than in November last year, when strict stay-at-home period was in effect in Latvia until the middle of the month.
During the first eleven months of last year, the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 2 million – 66.8 % more than in the eleven months of 2021, however, compared to the corresponding period of time before the pandemic in 2019, a drop of 24 % was observed in the number of visitors.
In November 2022, out of all visitors 54.9 % or 74.8 thousand were foreign visitors, which is 2.9 times more than last year. The number of nights spent by foreign visitors, compared to November last year, has grown 2.7 times and comprised 136.2 thousand. The average length of stay of foreign visitors comprised 1.8 nights.
The majority of foreign visitors came from Lithuania (11.8 thousand), Estonia (10.3 thousand), United Kingdom (5.9 thousand), Germany (5.1 thousand), Finland (3.9 thousand), Poland (3.3 thousand), Sweden, Norway and Ukraine (2.9 thousand).
Out of foreign visitors 32.8 % or 24.5 thousand came from neighbouring countries – Lithuania (15.7 %), Estonia (13.8 %), Russia (2 %) and Belarus (1.3 %).
Most foreign visitors were hosted in Riga – 81.5 %, Jūrmala – 4.8 %, Mārupe municipality – 3.7 %, Liepāja – 2.2 %, Rēzekne – 1.3 % and Sigulda municipality – 1.1 %.
In November 2022, 61.5 thousand Latvian residents were hosted in accommodation establishments, which is 54.4 % more than in November 2021. The number of nights spent by them comprised 106.9 thousand, and it rose by 38 %, compared to November last year.
Latvian visitors stayed mostly in Riga (32.2 %), Jūrmala (15.3 %), Liepāja (7.3 %), Cēsis municipality (4.3 %), Sigulda municipality (4.1 %) and Daugavpils (3.2 %).
