Poland will likely light the way this winter

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Ever wondered which EU country makes the most candles? Us neither. But with candle-lighting season very much imminent in Latvia (November 11 and 18 are both big wax and wick days), Eurostat is here to tell you anyway.

In fact Poland is Europe's candle king, producing a colossal 760 million euros' worth of candles in 2021, accounting for 40% of all EU candle production.

Second place goes to Germany (191 million euros, 10% of candle production), and third is Italy (84 million euros, 5% of production).

Unfortunately, no figures are available for Latvia, though Estonia made 22 million euros' worth of candles and Lithuania managed 14 million euros' worth.

But whenever you light a candle this winter, there's a good chance you have Poland to thank for it.
