Viktors Jaksons, President of the Latvian Red Cross said: “During this dark autumn time, both people and their pets feel the need for love, care and support... Based on the amount of the donated meals, we will be able to help a lot of people and their pets.”
The retailer ran a “Pet Day” campaign to help people affected by the current coronacrisis and ease day-to-day spending on animal food.
"Pets are our best friends and family members who bring joy and love to everyone's life during these difficult times, so they deserve our care and support as well," said Viktors Troicins, head of Maxima Latvija.
By inviting buyers to donate dog and cat food, the Latvian Red Cross, in cooperation with Maxima Latvija and animal food wholesaler Mars Latvia, organized the campaign “Pet Days” for the second time this year. From 24 September to 7 October, for each kilogram of “Whiskas”, “Sheba”, “Perfect Fit”, “Pedigree” or “Cesar” food purchased, 100 grams were donated to support pets of the low-income people.
