An advertisement campaign to promote the Latvian capital, Rīga, has won an international award.

The Insiders Guide To Rīga ad campaign from leading Latvian ad agency DDB and nonsense.tv for Riga Tourism Development Bureau was top-ranked among 164 films and named "World's best tourism film" for 2019 at the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) "Festival of Festivals“ Grand Prix award ceremony in Austria.

CIFFT was created in 1989 in Vienna, to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in travel industry video marketing.

The membership list includes 17 countries and 18 cities including New York, Cannes, Riga, Deauville, Baku, Los Angeles, Zagreb, Berlin, Warsaw, Spain, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Turkey, South Africa, Portugal, Czech Republic to Vienna. Films are submitted for competition by members at a cost of around 3,000 euros for a minute-long film.

In fact the Insider's Guide To Rīga series has already been running for several years. It was picking up awards back in 2017 at the Tourfilm festival in Rīga, which is organized by Riga City Council (and is part of the CIFFT circuit), which in turn owns 70% of the Live Rīga tourism promotion brand of the Riga Tourism Development Bureau, which actually commissioned the Insider's Guide To Rīga films.

In 2018, another one of the Insider's Guide To Rīga films won again at Tourfilm in Rīga.

Earlier this year, The Insider's Guide To Rīga won yet again at the same festival.
