The Latvian-U.S. business conference Spotlight Latvia will take place on October 26 at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. The conference will be "the largest in the history of bilateral relations," according to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador of Latvia to the United States Andris Teikmanis and outgoing Minister of Economics Arvils Ašeradens will deliver the opening remarks with more than 40 Latvian business representatives taking the trans-Atlantic trip.
Latvian companies will present themselves to an audience of more than 100 U.S. companies. There will be seven sessions by Latvian companies – talking about the existing and potential success stories of US companies operating in Latvia, and vice versa.
Special attention will be paid to Latvian ITC companies, manufacturers, food producers, as well as transport and logistics companies. Latvian start-up companies will present their ideas in a special "shark-tank" session nearing the end of the conference, though hopefully this will not involve real sharks.

The conference will be marked by a special event – the launching of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the United States (LatCham). Its main goal is to unite under one umbrella those Latvian companies that are operating in the U.S., as well as those American companies that are located in Latvia.
Spotlight Latvia will feature such major Latvian companies as Valmiera Glass, SAF Tehnika, Jauda and Latvijas Finieris in the manufacturing area; Latvian Railways, airBaltic, Sonora, Kreiss in the transport and logistics area; Amber Beverage Group, Aloja-Starkelsen, Food Union, Orkla, Pure Food in the food production industry; as well as Tilde, Blue Bridge Technologies, Anatomy Next and Meditec in the ITC area. Ms Baiba Rubesa, chairperson of the RB Rail management board, will be the lunchtime speaker. She will inform U.S. companies about the development of the largest Baltic infrastructure project and procurement opportunities.
The conference is organized by the Embassy of Latvia, the Latvian Honorary Consul in Illinois Mr Roberts Blumbergs, the American Latvian Association and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
