Promo video talks up 'MissionLatvia'

A new promotional video was published October 12 on the 'missionLatvia' (sic) YouTube channel.

As previously outlined by LSM earlier this year, 'missionLatvia' (also rendered sometimes as 'MISSION Latvia' or MISSIONLatvia) is an official slogan that has been adopted by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) as the heart of its efforts to attract investment and promote the national brand.

The new video, titled:  'Why Missions? Unlocking Latvia's Sustainable Future' makes an attempt to explain what the 'mission' or missions bit of 'missionLatvia' actually is, but ends up delivering little beyond an intent to "create pioneering goals to complete by 2030".

"Latvia's pilot mission is MISSIONSEA 2030. The Baltic Sea is one of the most polluted seas on earth. By restoring a healthy water environment the Baltic Sea becomes a valuable source of health and biodiversity in the region, and therefore, globally," says a voiceover.

"The overall goal of the mission is to address the issues of climate change, pollution and the circular economy. The overall goal is achievable by creating an environment for rapid innovations, supported by legal instruments in many fields," the viewer is assured.

Exactly how the task of creating this environment and these legal instruments in many fields will be tackled, let alone what they will actually be, or when they might be expected to materialize,or when the Baltic Sea will be judged to be suitably clean, is left to the viewer's imagination.

Science, society, startups, investment and various other massive aspects of society all have rosy futures according to the video – again with nothing but positive vibes to support the claims. See for yourself in the video above.
