The Director General of the VID said that a total of 6,000 goods out of a total of 12,000 goods included in the Combined Nomenclature are subject to sanctions.
"In addition, each subsequent package of sanctions extends the range of these goods. Some additional analysis concludes that another commodity probably generates revenue for Russia or contributes to Russian military growth or increased industrial capacity, and then these goods are included in these packages," Zukuls explained.
He added that sanctions differ in exports and imports of goods. Most often, sanctions in deliveries to Russia are violated in exports of electrical equipment, machine tools, machine parts, metal products, and luxury goods, explained the deputy head of the VID.
He acknowledged that in the import of goods into the European Union (EU), quite a few manipulate with the origin of the goods, noting that it is not a Russian product, but one of the Central Asian countries, for example. In both cases, both import and export of goods, the commodity codes are changed. “The item is declared with a similar or close code to the item that is sanctioned,” Zukuls said.
