In the first eleven months of this year, the number of non-resident and resident visitors comprised 2.3 million, which is 12.1 % more than in the eleven months of 2022, however, it is still 14.9 % less than in the first eleven months of 2019, before the pandemic, suggesting there is still plenty of room for further improvement.
In November 2023 non-resident arrivals at the tourist accommodation establishments accounted for 57.4 % or 89.5 thousand people, which is 19.7 % more than in November a year ago, but 25 % less than in November 2019. The number of nights spent by non-residents, compared to November 2022, has grown by 11 % and comprised 151.3 thousand. Non-residents on average spent 1.7 nights at the tourist accommodation1.
The majority of non-resident visitors came from Lithuania (16.8 thousand), Estonia (10.9 thousand), United Kingdom (6.1 thousand), Germany (5.9 thousand), Finland (4.3 thousand), Poland (4.1 thousand), Sweden and Ukraine (3.2 thousand from each) and the USA (3.1 thousand).
Most non-resident visitors were hosted in Riga – 82 %, Jūrmala – 5.9 %, Mārupe municipality – 3.4 %, Liepāja – 1.6 % and Daugavpils – 1.5 %.
In November 2023 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 66.3 thousand Latvian visitors, which is 7.8 % more than in November 2022 and 6.9 % more than in November 2019. The number of nights spent by them comprised 108 thousand, which is a rise of 1 %, compared to November last year.
Mostly residents stayed in Riga (32.9 %), Jūrmala (14.4 %), Liepāja (6.7 %), Daugavpils (5.5 %), Sigulda municipality (4.4 %), Cēsis municipality (3.6 %) and Valmiera municipality (2.9 %).
