Tourist numbers picked up strongly in June

Central Statistical Bureau data published August 16 show that in June 2023 number of non-resident and resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments accounted for 261.2 thousand, which is 6.2 % more than in June 2022. 

Visitors spent 466.3 thousand nights at the establishments, which is 8.3 % more than in June a year ago.

In June 2023, 145.4 thousand non-resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments were registered, which is 12.1 % more than in June 2022. Non-resident visitors spent 266.3 thousand nights at the establishments (14.8 % more). While the number of resident arrivals has dropped down to 115.8 thousand or by 0.4 % over the year. Resident visitors spent 199.9 thousand nights at the establishments (0.8 % more).

In Q2 2023 number of non-resident and resident arrivals at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments accounted for 632.5 thousand, which is 13.7 % more than in Q2 2022. Visitors spent 1.1 million nights at the establishments, which is 14.1 % more than in Q2 2022. The average duration of stay was 1.8 nights.

In Q2 2023, 364.2 thousand non-resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments were registered, which is 25.1 % more than in Q2 2022. Non-resident visitors spent 266.3 thousand nights at the establishments, which is 25.5 % more. The greatest number of non-resident travelers came from Lithuania (60.1 thousand), Estonia (45.8 thousand), Germany (34.1 thousand), Finland (29.5 thousand), United Kingdom (20.3 thousand), Poland (18.1 thousand), USA (16.6 thousand), Sweden (12.7 thousand), and Norway (10.5 thousand).
