In the first ten months of this year, the number of non-resident and resident visitors comprised 2.1 million, which is 11.9 % more than in the ten months of 2022, however, it is 14.9 % less than in the ten months of 2019, during the time before the pandemic.
In October 2023 non-resident arrivals at the tourist accommodation establishments accounted for 57.4 % or 101 thousand people, which is 0.8 % more than in October a year ago, but 30.3 % less than in October 2019. The number of nights spent by non-resident visitors, compared to October last year, has reduced by 0.3 % and comprised 192.9 thousand. Non-residents on average spent 1.9 nights at the tourist accommodation1.
The majority of non-resident visitors came from Lithuania (14.3 thousand), Estonia (13.7 thousand), Germany (9.2 thousand), United Kingdom (7.5 thousand), Finland (6.9 thousand), Poland (4.6 thousand), Sweden (3.6 thousand) and the USA (3.5 thousand).
Most non-resident visitors were hosted in Riga – 79.1 %, Jūrmala – 6 %, Mārupe municipality – 3.9 %, Liepāja – 1.7 %, Daugavpils – 1.2 % and Sigulda municipality – 1.1 %.
In October 2023 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 75 thousand resident visitors, which is 3.6 % less than in October 2022, but 14.3 % more than in October 2019. The number of nights spent by them comprised 124.3 thousand, which is a drop of 5.9 %, compared to October last year.
Residents stayed mostly in Riga (30 %), Jūrmala (12.9 %), Liepāja (7 %), Sigulda municipality (5.1 %), Daugavpils and Cēsis municipality (4.6 %), Valmiera municipality (3 %).
