Latvia's producer prices up 4.6% in May

Data published on June 21 by the Central Statistical Bureau show that in May 2023, compared to May 2022, the level of producer prices in the Latvian industry increased by 4.6 %. 

Prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 12.2 %, while level of prices of exported products reduced by 3.1 %. Prices of products exported to euro area countries decreased by 2.3 % and of products exported to non-euro area countries by 3.8 %.

The price rise in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, as well as manufacture of food products had the most significant impact on the producer prices. Manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), as well as manufacture of chemicals and chemical products had downward impact on the producer price changes.

In May 2023, compared to April 2023, the level of producer prices in Latvian industry decreased by 1.2 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market fell by 1.6 % and prices of exported products – by 0.8 %. Producer prices of products exported to euro area countries reduced by 0.8 % and prices of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 0.7 %.

Heat and gas supply, manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), as well as manufacture of chemicals and chemical products had downward impact on the producer price changes.
