Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 2.3 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) rose by 0.3 %, while turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel rose by 2.4 %.
Compared to April 2023, the largest turnover rise was registered in retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores (of 25.1 %), retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (16.6 %) and retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (10.7 %). A turnover drop was registered in retail sale in non-specialised stores selling mainly non-food products (of 13.9 %), retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (12.4 %) and retail sale in stalls or markets (10.8 %).
Total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 1.5 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).
However the month-to-month figures were less encouraging. Compared to March, the total turnover of retail trade enterprises in April 2024 fell by 3.3 %, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 1.2 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) reduced by 2.5 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel by 8.9 %.
The largest turnover drop was recorded in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (of 16.1 %), retail sale in stalls or markets (7.1 %) and retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (4.4 %).
Compared to March, in April 2024 the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) decreased by 2.4 %.
