July brought falling figures in Latvian retail sector

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) published by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) on August 29 show that, compared to July 2022, in July 2023 total retail trade turnover in Latvia reduced by 2.5 %.

Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 5.0 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) decreased by 3.5 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel increased by 5.2 %.

Total retail trade turnover at current prices fell by 1.6 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).

Compared to June, the total turnover of retail trade enterprises in July 2023 fell by 0.5 %, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 0.9 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) reduced by 0.2 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel by 0.2 %.

Compared to June, in July 2023 the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) increased by 0.7 %.
