Latvian national airline airBaltic said Tuesday it was planning to hire 1,000 new employees over a five-year period.

The new jobs will come as part of airBaltic's 'Horizon 2021' business plan, a company news release said.

Daiga Ergle of the company's human resources department said: "We kick off this recruitment campaign by organising an “open door” event for young professionals who want to join our award-winning team of Cabin Crew.”

Starting from October 13, airBaltic will run a series of “Open Door” events for its future cabin crew.

The weekly event starts every Thursday at 13:00. The project does not require candidates to fill out an application form before a visit, but simply take their CV, personal identification document and arrive for the selection process.

The move will see a significant increase in staffing levels - airBaltic currently employs over 1,100 people from almost 30 nations.

airBaltic serves over 60 destinations from its home base in Riga. In addition, airBaltic also offers new direct flights from Tallinn and Vilnius.
