208,029 megawatt- hours (MWh) of electricity were produced in Latvia in July, which is 25.4% less than in June and 32% less than in July 2021. Electricity consumption was 544 121 MWh, up 1% more than in June and 9% less than in July last year.
The rest of the required volume, 336,092 MWh, was imported from neighboring countries.
The largest drop in production was recorded in Daugava HES, producing 137 554 MWh, with a decrease of 34% compared to June, while production increased by 88% compared to July 2021. In July, the large cogeneration plant had practically ceased production, producing only 4,527 MWh of electricity, which is 97% less than a year ago and 50% less than in June.
In July, for the second consecutive month, Latvia achieved the historically highest average monthly electricity prices since the opening of the electricity market - EUR 304.96 per megawatt hour (EUR/MWh). In the other Baltic States, average monthly prices have also reached historically high levels of EUR 305.36/MWh in Lithuania, EUR 233.21/MWh in Estonia.
