Until now, it was required to dismantle outdoor terraces by 31 October, but this year they can stay for good. Staķis said this was meant to keep people outside and healthy.
“There is clear evidence that staying outdoors reduces the risk of COVID-19 infection. It is a warm autumn, and Rīga municipality calls on residents to spend more time outdoors. Therefore, we have decided that the terraces will be in place throughout the year.
It is intended to promote being outdoors to Rīga residents and guests, as well as to provide support to the crisis-stricken catering industry. Better to be in fresh air!” Staķis said.
It is always recommended to assess your health state and dress warmly if you would like to enjoy a meal with a fresh winter breeze.
