The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM) plans up to EUR 20,000 state aid to households that will replace the fossil fuel or natural gas energy source with renewable energy resources, VARAM said February 10.

According to the Ministry, support will be provided within the scope of the competition in the form of a one-off grant after the purchase and installation of the device. It is expected that the maximum aid intensity will not exceed 70% of the costs of purchasing a thermal energy or electricity generation plant.

Support will be provided to residents who have ownership of a residential house. VARAM has included conditions for beneficiaries as well as residential homes in the aid program.

One project application will be submitted for one residential house. The total amount of funding available under the aid program is EUR 20 million.

The rules provide that households will be able to receive aid for replacing existing natural gas boilers with new heat plants:

  • wood biomass boilers suitable for granular fuels with a total installed capacity of up to 50 kW (inclusive);
  • a solar collector system with a storage tank capacity of up to 400 l (inclusive);
  • for the purchase of heat pumps (air, water, earth) with a total installed capacity of up to 50 kW (inclusive).

At the same time, support is provided for the purchase of new electricity generation equipment: a solar panel with a total installed capacity of up to 11.1 kW (inclusive) with and without connection to the total electricity supply network and a wind generator with a total installed capacity of up to 11.1 kW (inclusive) with and without connection to the total electricity supply network. Support will also be provided for the establishment of a household connection district heating system if the use of fossil energy installations is abandoned.

The draft regulations, prepared by VARAM, have been sent to the ministries involved.
