Industrial output up on year, down on month

Data published by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSB) June 3 show that, compared to April 2021, in April 2022 industrial production output increased by 3.7 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices). 

The rise was influenced by an industrial production upturn in manufacturing (of 5.3 %), whereas a decline was registered in mining and quarrying (11.1 %) as well as electricity and gas supply (1.5 %), according to the CSB.

However, compared to March 2022, in April 2022 industrial production output fell by 0.1 %, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. A production output drop was recorded in manufacturing (of 1 %) as well as mining and quarrying (8.9 %), while in electricity and gas supply an increase was registered (10.5 %).

Compared to April 2021, in April 2022 manufacturing turnover increased by 28 % (according to calendar adjusted data at current prices). Turnover on the domestic market went up by 28.1 % and in export by 27.9 % (of which by 41.1 % in euro area and by 18.5 % in non-euro area).

Compared to March 2022, in April 2022 manufacturing turnover rose by 3.8 % (according to seasonally adjusted data). The rise was due to the turnover upturn on the domestic market – of 4.8 %, and export – of 3.3 % (of which 4.3 % in euro area and 2.5 % in non-euro area).
